1. Invest in good skin care products – no it’s never too late! Go to a beauty therapist or clinical skin therapist who can prescribe cosmeceuticals with actives such as Vitamins A, B & C. Generally department store brands do not have the percentage of actives to make a difference. 2. Exercise & incorporate weight training – it helps build strong bones and muscles – very important as we age, aesthetically and functionally!
3. Get some Vitamin D!!! Why? It promotes calcium absorption, boosts the immune system & contributes to skin cell growth & repair. Just 10 minutes a day of early morning sunlight is sufficient to prevent Vitamin D deficiency.
4. Wear a physical sunscreen!!! Sounds contradictory to the previous tip but it is important to balance between sensible sun exposure & adequate sun protection. Chemical sunscreens break down and by-products are found in the bloodstream & urine. Choose a physical sunscreen such as Zinc – preferably with no-nasties.
5. Incorporate pre & probiotics into your daily regime as beneficial bacteria in the gut is key to good health and skin. 70% of your immune system lies in your gut. I recommend “The Beauty Chef” products.
6. Looking for some cosmetic treatments but not sure what? Be guided by a cosmetic nurse or Doctor who you feel comfortable with and not pressured. You don’t have to choose Botox or Dermal fillers as there are many other alternatives. Have a consultation and then take time to consider your options. All procedures should be pre-empted with full disclosure of potential benefits & risks involved.
