Davissa Skin Care

About Davissa Skin Clinic by Sharon Gould Clinical Beauty

My background –

I am a Registered Nurse having completed my training at Royal Brisbane Hospital. The following years I spent working in the operating theatre, then General Practice. A hiatus from nursing followed and I spent 15 years in the fitness industry starting during the aerobics phase, then moving into management of Sanctuary Cove and Bond University Fitness Centres. I was the instigator / founder of Bond’s Mature and Motivated Club – exercise for the over 50’s – and am proud to say that after 25 years the club is still going with some founding members now in their 80’s! I then returned to nursing within General Practice and on to management of Medical Centres.

My interest in health and fitness included good skin health and general aesthetics, so 7 years ago I began my studies in Aesthetic medicine and have worked within the industry since that time.

My quick fix tip for your skin –

There isn’t one. If you want to see change then you have to be prepared for it to take time.
What to use? The industry has come along way in the past 10 years with the advent of cosmeceuticals which have biological active ingredients.
So we look to science for our skincare? Yes. It makes sense that a scientific approach to skincare is more likely to achieve results than purchasing a product over the counter in a department store from a salesperson.

Being a Registered Nurse I have always had an innate desire to help people. Opening my own business allows me to offer clients the products and services I choose and feel are of benefit to them – not just the bottom line.

Are anti-wrinkle injections expensive?

Let’s put it into perspective. The psychological benefits of knowing that you look your best are very powerful. That’s why we get our hair cut and coloured and our nails manicured. If you have anti-wrinkle injections 3 times a year, it is no more expensive than those other forms of self maintenance. Factor it in to your lifestyle.

Where do I want my business to head in the future?

I want to keep it simple, personal and real. That may sound odd. The Aesthetic industry is not usually renowned for keeping it real. The treatments you have should enhance the way you look – not change it. Keeping it natural and age appropriate – that is my aim.
